Remember the story about that black cat and the Chinese towkay colleague? I almost forgot about it.

Last week, the same colleague finally had his old Dell monitor in office replaced. It was getting all blurry and had the Windows log-in screen permanently 'burnt' into it.

A few years ago, all Dell desktops were actually white (close to cream). Then they decided to get trendy and the later series were all black. So the nice IT personnel came with a black flat screen CRT monitor to match his white CPU. Guess what he commented about the monitor?

"Aiyah, black is a very suay colour." Hmm.

I came along and noticed his new monitor. I, on the other hand, had a black CPU and a white monitor. So I promptly volunteered to swop monitors. Matching, geddit? Suay? Bah, humbug! It's a flat-screen!

I got to enjoy the monitor for the grand total of 2 hours. After that, I went to the company doctor to get a referral because of a rather persistent abdominal pain. I was sent to the A&E straight away. Spent a total of 6 hours in the hospital - 2 hours doing all sorts of tests to find out what was wrong with me, and 4 hours under observation to monitor my response to an injection. I had to cancel a business trip to the Philippines, and was ordered to rest at home for 3 days. The doctors never found out what was wrong with me.

Conclusion? I shall not balk at anything he claims to be inauspicious anymore.

For the record, he asked for another replacement monitor because he found my old monitor rather dark. The new monitor was black.
